2 wks in January/February 2o12
wow! WOW, WOOOOW! well, without any doubt left, THIS is my favorite Gorilla…let me introduce Mr. Hong…just seems to have it all – as far as density is concerned, takes the 4th place in the world, left behind only by Macau, Monaco and Singapore, with its expansive skyline it’s called world’s most vertical city, transportation network with public transport travelling rate exceeding 90%, one of the most famous horse racing venues in all the world, taking numerous high international rankings in economic freedom, financial and economic competitiveness, quality of life, corruption perception, Human Development Index, etc…that’s just a tiny fraction from what Mr. Hong really is/can be
my Hongy Kongy recipe:
1. Sydney beaches, Manhattan skyline, Shanghai chaos & London SOHO in a large enough islands and territories over cold to high heat (depends of season)
2. Add remaining ingredients, f. E. stunning national parks, rich fauna & flora, british drinking culture, wide european selection of food (yes, including wine, cheese and rock’n'roll), chinese superstition, designer clothing, traditional chinese medicine, menu in cantonese, double-decker trams, stir well then pour into an ungreased, clean, poshy, hectic but yummy multitaste dish.
3. Bake, steam, stir, fry, covered & open at any degree for as long as you want or until u get bubbly… unlimited servings. Enjoy.
a perhaps “typical” wk could look like this:
MON// going to work (6hrs, start 10am…I wish), afternoon meeting friends for a Corona (1.50EUR – it’s Happy Hour), having good laugh & crispy conversations, taking the 23:30 ferry, 00:10 @ home, cats pouring, btw. nice view over the harbour and the beach
TUE// easy day, enjoying the breeze while on the ferry back home, walking on the beach and chilling out by redish-Fanta orangeish sunset on the balcony with a glass (becomes a bottle later on) of Merlot 2009 de Bordeaux mis en bouteille à la propriété (3EUR – promo at local supermarket), cats still pouring, joining them later
WED// another nicely “challenging” day @ work, visiting Museum of Art for a Fantastic Creatures from the British Museum exhibition – LIKE, later meeting friends for a Krügel of Lovenbrau at Happy Valley racecourse (talking horses), not betting, just silently guessing (safer)
THU// after work dinner in a street food “shelter” serving home made noodle soup, meeting friends for a ladies’ night, sharing “my” free drinks all night with male friends
FRI// lovely day at work, leaving early to pack my backpack; tent, gas cooker, sleeping bag and food for the weekend being its major content and heading to Sai Kung East Country Park
SAT// wonderful panoramic views all sunny day, swimming in the sea, fantastic long beaches, pitching tent on one of those, after dinner observing the night sky, breathless, sipping hot tea…
SUN// slow return into civilization, more walking, delicious views, fresh air, mountain hawk eagles circling round, relaxing on the balcony while diving in sweet weekend memories (after putting the wash on), cats happy to see me
MON// aaah, another wonder-full week ahead, watta life! I love you King Kong Hong! …feel like surfing next w/end
